Can you play both sides in a game without a 'live' opponent?

Apologies if this has already been covered, but can you download ZunTzu modules and play them 'solo' by playing both sides of a game, or do you have to play with another opponent 'live over the net'?

Am just curious because the UK Timezone and my unconventional working hours means it's not so easy to dedicate specific time to online gaming.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Alex,

It's me, from BGG forums: Offline solo is cool.

In fact, once ZT is up and going, I think you'll find it intuitive and gives the sensation of playing a real board game, in real time!

Should you choose to download ZT and need some extra aid - just post on this forum . . .

Hi Alex,

I've played some of the earlier wargames--D-Day, Afrika Korps, Barbarossa--with a live opponent by saving each turn and sending the .ztg file by email. The only time we connected in real time was when we had to witness die rolls in the combat phase. We did that by phone since ZunTzu's voice connection doesn't work. If we knew of a way to record the die rolls that would have been even easier.

Not sure I have ever played online. On call, so no idea where I will be or when. Tough to coordinate a game time under those conditions. That being the said, I have gotten YEARS of enjoyable use from ZunTzu playing solo. Like Rich said, it is much like playing with the actual boardgame. The user interface is slick and sexy. Much prefer it to anything else. These days, with the availability of smallish Windows tablets, like the Microsoft Surface Go, I keep it in my work bag and pull it out time permitting. Never too far away from taking a quick turn at whatever I am playing. Usually ASL. So Alex, I HIGHLY recommend jumping on board! You will not regret it. And you are assured a victory every time you play, solo and all!!

Is it possible to play in hot seat mode, where two players each have a hand that is not visible to the other?

Yes - you can!

Yes. How about these two options:

1) Place all card-hands on the 'table' (board Tab), back side up. When a player wants to conduct their 'hot seat' turn, use the stack inspector to turn them face-up - but don't forget to turn them face-down when the other player 'hot-seats.'

2) Make a tab for each player, and they can place them in their tab,face-up, moving to the main 'table' to play/discard a card.

See the 'Poker' box in the ZT Files section for examples.

Good to have you on the forums :P
