Maybe this has been asked before, but is it possible to change the 'space' between stacked counters?

No - not yet...
One workaround is to define your counters as "cards" - I used this technique for some of the counters in the "Ici c'est la France!" game box.

Okay, thanks.
I did the counter-to-card-workaround with one stack, but I don't like the fact that you can't change the position of one stack of cards during the play.

I agree that it's not ideal, but you can move a stack of "cards" by pressing "Cntrl" and selecting the bottom one in the stack...
