Version 1.2 Encryption Tool

Post by dulcaoin »

Is it possible to share the encryption tool between users, or does each individual user need a particular key generated by Jerome?

I'd like to get ahold of the tool, but he's been hard to get ahold of. :-/

Hi Dulcaoin,

I presume that you're asking about graphics encryption (otherwise I don't understand your question) in which case I'm pretty sure that only Jerome has the answer.

And yes, we all miss the man and hope that he'll come back soon :(

Regards, Bill.

Yes, that's what I meant. I was hoping maybe there was an encryption tool that someone had a copy of that they could supply, but it occurred to me that he probably generates a different private key for each user.

While it's not a return, I did get a copy of the right tool for the job from Jerome. A minor sign of life. ;-)

I apologize for not bringing this topic back around when it happened (it's only been a few days, though)

We'll that's good to hear :D

And that's a tool that I could make use of myself

Are you able to share it or does everyone need to contact him directly?

Regards, Bill.

You need to contact him directly. Each copy is individualized.

What does this graphics encryption do? Can it be used within the current version? Will this encrypt the graphics portion of the game box so publishers won't be upset about their graphics being shared in the file?

From the release notes for 1.2...

"The other new feature of special interest to you is the possibility to encrypt images to help protect copyrighted artwork against copying. I'll send the encryption utility to specific users (including you) at the end of the week. "
